Coach Kim Sang Sik is about to make a shocking decision regarding 4 overseas Vietnamese stars.

The Vietnamese national team currently has the largest number of overseas Vietnamese stars in its history, but none of them are guaranteed a starting spot.

With the inclusion of Patrik Le Giang, the Vietnamese national team now has 4 overseas Vietnamese players in this training camp. The other three names are Dang Van Lam (Ninh Binh Club), Filip Nguyen, and Pedant Quang Vinh (CAHN Club). This is considered the highest number of overseas Vietnamese players ever assembled in a national team call-up.

However, these 4 overseas Vietnamese players are not guaranteed starting positions in the Vietnamese national team. First is Pedant Quang Vinh. The return of Van Hau will create an exciting competition for the left-back position, alongside two other excellent names, Phan Tuan Tai and Van Vi. Pedant is unlikely to compete for a starting spot.

Notably, in the goalkeeper position, all three selected players are overseas Vietnamese: Patrik Le Giang, Van Lam, and Filip Nguyen. Nevertheless, each has their own limitations. Filip Nguyen is highly rated for his skills, but his ability to communicate in Vietnamese with defenders is still not fluent. Meanwhile, Dang Van Lam has extensive national team experience, but his footwork is not his strongest asset.

Regarding Patrik Le Giang, he is maintaining good form at his club, but this is his first national team call-up, so he will need additional time to adapt to the national team environment. Additionally, Coach Kim Sang Sik still has another backup option: Trung Kien, the primary goalkeeper for the U23 Vietnam team, who is performing very consistently in the V.League.
