Nearly 2-meter tall defender moved when called up to Vietnam U23 by coach Kim Sang Sik

Defender Dinh Quang Kiet, the nearly 2-meter tall HAGL player, expressed his emotion upon being summoned again to Vietnam U23 by coach Kim Sang Sik, while also determined to strive to prove himself.

Young defender Dinh Quang Kiet of HAGL expressed his joy at being called up again Vietnam U23, and affirmed that he will exert himself fully to demonstrate his ability in the upcoming gathering.

During the training camp preparing for the CFA Team China Xi'an 2026 international football tournament, HAGL contributed two players including Dinh Quang Kiet and Nguyen Minh Tam. Among them, Quang Kiet is a familiar name having been called up multiple times to Vietnam U23 by coach Kim Sang Sik in 2025. However, despite possessing a height nearing 2 meters and great potential, the defender born in 2006 has yet had the opportunity to be included in the final roster for major tournaments such as SEA Games or the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026.

Sharing about his return to the national team, Quang Kiet said he is very happy to be on the training list. “For me, being called up to the national team is a great honor. I need to try to learn even more when I am here,” the 19-year-old defender said.

He also emphasized his goal of integrating well with the whole team to seize the opportunity to prove himself. “I will strive to live well, train well, and cooperate with everyone in the team to achieve the best possible training results,” Quang Kiet shared.

In this season's V-League, the young HAGL player gained trust from the coaching staff by getting more playing time. Matches at Vietnam's top football stage helped him become more confident before stepping into the national team environment. “I have played quite a lot in V-League so I feel more confident. When I join Vietnam U23, I will try even harder to showcase myself,” Quang Kiet affirmed.

According to the plan, Vietnam U23 will participate in the CFA Team China Xi'an 2026 international friendly tournament in China from March 25 to March 31, featuring four teams: China U23, Vietnam U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23. According to the match schedule, Vietnam U23 will successively face North Korea U23 (March 25), Thailand U23 (March 28), and host China U23 (March 31).
