Luka Doncic issues a statement! Officially splits with his wife! Will pay $1 million monthly in child support.

American gossip sports media TMZ reports that Doncic and his fiancée Anamaria Goltes have ended their engagement, with both parties now engaged in legal disputes over custody of their two daughters.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic issued a statement via ESPN on March 11, 2026, formally confirming the termination of his engagement with fiancée Anamaria Goltes. Both sides are currently engaged in legal proceedings regarding custody and care arrangements for their two daughters, with the focus centered on "the well-being of the children" and no mutual accusations involved.

In his statement, Doncic emphasized that the decision to end the engagement was "difficult but necessary," driven primarily by the happiness of his two daughters:“I love my daughters more than anything. Throughout the season, I have done everything possible to enable them to come to the United States and live with me during the season, but this has not been achieved. Everything I do is for the happiness of my daughters, and I will always strive to reunite with them.”

He also clarified that he was "completely unaware" of his fiancée's recent petition for child support and stated that he "never intended to harm them."

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Anamaria filed a petition with a California court on March 10, 2026, requesting Doncic to pay child support for their two minor children and related legal fees. The petition explicitly states that it "does not seek changes to custody," focusing solely on support arrangements.

Doncic's ResponseTo secure access to his daughters, Doncic filed for a temporary injunction with a Slovenian court on February 26, 2026, demanding immediate visitation rights with his two daughters. Since leaving for the Lakers training camp in September 2025, he has spent only two days with his daughters.

The conflict originated during Doncic's paternity leave in December 2025. At that time, he wanted to bring his eldest daughter Gabriela (born November 2023) back to the United States to live, which sparked strong opposition from Anamaria, who subsequently called the police. After investigation, the police found no criminal wrongdoing by Doncic, and he eventually returned to the United States alone, having not seen his wife and daughters since.

Doncic and Anamaria grew up together, began dating in 2016, and he proposed on July 7, 2023 (symbolizing his jersey number "77") at Lake Bled in Slovenia. They have two daughters: Gabriela (born in the U.S., November 2023) and Olivia (born in Slovenia, December 2025).

Beyond legal actions, Doncic expressed in his statement his longing for his daughters and his determination to reunite with them, stressing that "everything I do is for the happiness of my daughters."

As of March 11, 2026, Anamaria has not publicly responded to Doncic's statement. Proceedings in the respective courts are ongoing, with no final outcome yet.

NBA stars often face significant financial pressure from child support and asset division after divorce or separation. Most U.S. states use an "income share model" to calculate child support, and courts typically base awards on the player's high salary during the marriage, making reductions difficult even after retirement without stable income.

Doncic signed a 3-year, $165 million contract with the Lakers last summer, with a salary of $51 million for the 2026-27 season.Under California law, child support is typically 20%-30% of monthly income, translating to Doncic paying approximately $1 million per month.

One week ago, Doncic's wife Anamaria cleared all posts related to Doncic from her social media.

Doncic has also frequently liked posts by female models on social platforms recently and followed actress Madelyn Cline, born December 21, 1997 in South Carolina, USA, who began her acting career in 2016.

Hopefully, Doncic can resolve his off-court marital disputes smoothly, return to the NBA court, focus fully on the game itself, and alongside Reaves and James, lead the Lakers to new heights.
